The nPdp and rApc have revealed their true colors and why they were on a mission to destroy the Apc. The presidential ticket is at stake.
They are now back where they started and must still face the battle they left behind having returned to the original base
This time around, the battle is going to be stiffer and more fierce than it was when they left.
Before the nPdp emerged, the name of Kawu Baraje was relatively unknown by most Nigerians. He became popular when he broke the pdp to pieces and led the splinter group the nPdp join forces with the APc and fight the 2015 general elections
With that mission accomplished, Baraje went under ground again and passed the barton to Buba Galadima to lead the Npdp in the fold of the Apc and master minded it’s new variant called the rApc.
They were all part of Saraki’s grand design to fractionalise both the Pdp and the Apc to enable him pick up the pieces and wrap them into his master plan
Now that he thought his plans have worked out according to his original design, Baraje has resurfaced and pushed the temporary short and inglorious reign of Buba Galadima to insignificance
Buba was never a part of Saraki’s main design but he came in handy when Saraki needed him most to do the hatchet job, which he did and disappeared
I reckon that Buba must have been settled with a handsome reward as he has now recoiled to his cocoon
Now with Saraki and Baraje on the centre stage, the former’s game plan has begun to unfold
Unfortunately for the duo, they made a capital political miscalculation which is almost irredeemable.
The pdp they left in 2014-2015 is not the same pdp they have now come to meet. It has undergone a radical transformation which threw up new leadership challenges beyond the imagination of Saraki and in the configuration of which, Baraje has no place to fit in the new power equation.
Baraje can not now operate beyond the local political arena of Kwara state. He has simply fizzled out of contention at the bigger stage
It is no wonder that Saraki is running up and down in search of new alliances.
The nPdp which Saraki actively plotted is now a Frankenstein monster to him. It is threatening to swallow him. It has changed drastically in character, colour and content, almost beyond recognition by Saraki.
The Atikus, the Kwankwasos, the Lamidos and the Tambuwals of this world have made Saraki a struggler in the unfolding struggles for the soul of the party and the highly priced and contentious presidential ticket of the pdp.
The correct picture and SWOT analysis of Saraki’s gamble or defection will be manifested in the build up to the pdp presidential primaries and the aftermath of the contest will determine whether Saraki would remain in the pdp or defect further to one of the surrogates parties
Remember that Saraki went into a meeting with a coalition of hitherto unknown parties immediately after his world press conference on the siege laid on the National Assembly by the recalcitrant Daura and the DSS troop he assembled? Methinks the meeting was in furtherance of Saraki’s presidential ambition
The lesson to be learnt from Saraki’s defection is, he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day.
