
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State has appealed for support from both the States and local governments across the country to UBEC so as to save education sector from collapse. Governor Al-makura who made the appeal while receiving a delegation of UBEC in his office in Lafia led by Prof Mas’ud Abdulkarim reiterated the commitment of Nasarawa state government to Partner With Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) To Construct World Class Public School In Lafia
Umaru Tanko Almakura appreciated the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for expanding its scope of its projects for the betterment of the educational system, adding the visit by a UBEC delegation to the Government House Lafia would further cement the existing relationship between the state government and UBEC.
Gov. Almakura described the mission and vision of Universal Basic Education Commission as same with his administration’s position on revitalization of education system with emphasis on provision modern infrastructures as well as state of the art learning materials.
The Governor noted that these mission and vision will nurture a rebirth in education sector ànd granted UBEC request for six hectare’s of land located opposite Comprehensive Special School Lafia for the construction of the UBEC pilot world class public school.
The leader of the UBEC delegation Professor Mas’ud Abdulkarim earlier told the governor that they were in Nasarawa state to intimate on the plan by the Universal Basic Education Commission to construct a world class public schools.
He Explained that Nasarawa state was chosen among the six states in the six geographic zones to benefit from the project because of the focus on the state Government towards the development of education.
