Media Support Group For Buhari, Audu Sule Ta’al Condemns Religious Politics In Nasarawa State.

Media Professionals for Buhari, Audu Sule, Ta’al 2019 has described as saddening religious and tribal politics which is gradually rearing its ugly head in Nasarawa State in spite of growing awareness and acceptability of democracy as the best form of electing credible leaders with requisite integrity.

A statement issued in Lafia Monday and signed by the coordinator of the group Ibrahim Habu Sulaiman observed that since
All Progressives Party, APC came to power in the state in 2011 after 12 years of PDP misrule, there was a coordinated attempt to introduced religious and ethnic politics in the state. It stated that the APC government is trying hard to clean up the rot which the PDP had dragged the state into, through provisions of infrastructures but regretted that some elements are trying hard to plough the state into religious and ethnic crisis, saying that
recent developments in the state indicates that the PDP is whetting religious and tribal sentiments in the state to achieve political goals. It noted that this position of PDP was nothing but a defeatist strategy which can only breed division and confusion in our society. The end result of such a defeatist strategy is anarchy and violence.
The statement further stressed that democratic elections in Nasarawa State have always been viewed as opportunity for the electorate to make their choice, adding ‘the people made their choice in 2011 by ousting the inept, incompetent and corrupt PDP in the state.
Similarly, they repeat same in 2015’ The statement also said ‘We believe that it is not too early in our democracy to insist on issues based campaigns as against campaigns based on religion or ethnicity.
The statement opined that Nasarawa State is in dire need of multifaceted industrial development and this cannot be possible in an atmosphere of religious and ethnic rancour, saying ‘We need to sustain the peace for any progressive development in our state. You might also ask: what kind of justice is it when a person is made a leader simply because he is Eggon, Alago, Hausa, Fulani or Gwandara, etc?’ The statement added.
While strongly condemning any attempt to foist religious and ethnic politics in the state, the statement reiterated the need for the people to vote for APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
