Nasarawa APC Scribe Berates Media Practitioners Over Unethical Practices

Nasarawa State Secretary of APC, Hon Aliyu Bello has condemned the hostile position taken by Correspondent Chapel of NUJ against the state government over unfortunate incident involving some members of chapel and security operative at the premises of Nasarawa state Pension Commission. Speaking at the unveiling of Buhari, A A Sule, Ta’al media support group office in Lafia, Hon Bello stressed that what transpired at the premises of Pension Commission was something can be handled amicably between the two parties, but regretted the level at which some politicians in the state are trying to bring in politics into the matter. He pointed out that what happened between some journalists and security operative at Pension Commission was purely one of the hazard of journalism profession, adding that the incident has nothing to do with politics. While cautioning journalists to always work according to the ethics of the profession,Hon Bello urged all the media practitioners to avoid sentiments in the discharge of their duties as members of the forth estate of the realm. Hon Bello, observed that the way some journalists go about discharging their responsibilities in the state was totally unacceptable as it was in variance with the ethics of the profession. He noted that the preference which some journalists put on material benefits over excellence poses serious danger to the future of journalism in Nigeria. Hon Aliyu Bello however, commended the convener of the group, Alhaji Rayyanu Bala for his wise decision and for donating an office fully equipped with Three sets of computers, one set of printer machine, one set of photocopier machine, one set of satellite wi- fi artenna and a set of 32 inches LG Led TV as well star- times decorder with six month subscriptions. While calling on other journalists to emulate Rayyanu Bala, Hon Bello also commended members of the group for volunteering to work for the success of APC and her candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
