Why we regularized, reposted 800 casual staff — Dangana Giza

The Chairman Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission, Musa Dangana Giza has said the recent regularization of appointments of about 800 casual staff into the mainstream of civil service was to correct abnormalities of some Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals that engaged casual staff, whose  qualifications were not related to their functions in the MDAs.

To this end Dangana said, the Commission cross posted substantial numbers of casual staff to different MDAs so as to reduce incident of redundancy as well as to improve effective and efficient service delivery of government policies and programmes.

The Commission Chairman who revealed this, while briefing the press on the activities of the Commission in the past four years at the Commission’s boardroom penultimate Wednesday, noted that, cross posting of casual staff to areas of their specialization created some mixed feelings among people that the Commission recruited new staff that were not on MDAs casual staff list.

It would be recalled that, the recent formalization of the appointments of casual staff posted to various MDAs in the state triggered reactions from various quarters that the Commission included and posted staff that were not on the MDAs casual staff list.

This propelled the Commission’ s chairman to address the press on the development as well as the activities of the Commission in the year under review.

He said, the Commission in the course of formalization of appointments of casual staff into the state civil service, the Commission realized that, concerned officials of the  MDAs did not engaged casual staff based on the critical areas of need of the MDAs, as such the Commission was left with no option than to cross post them (casual staff) to the areas of their qualifications related to the functions of the MDAs.

Musa Dangana equally maintained that during the recent recruitment exercise, the Commission concentrated on balancing the exercise, with a view to ensuring that, the officers on professional, Technical, Senior, Intermediate and Junior cadres were adequately represented across the MDAs.
