The Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Oga Onawo has sued for a change of our national psyche to enable us contribute meaningfully to nation building.
The Andoma was speaking as chairperson and royal father of the day at the Annual lecture series 2023,with the theme ,A decade of Dialogue on population and Development in Nigeria holding at Exclusive Serene hotel Abuja.
A brainchild of the National Population Commission, the lecture is aimed at reviewing the challenges and prospects of the commission so far.
Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Oga stresed that unless we make national survival our collective goal by doing away with all primordial sentiment, the nation’s effort to get a correct population data would be an exercise in futility.
While identifying that the nation’s policies are always predicted on accurate population data, he lamented that our failure to effectively explore this is hinged on the inability to prioritize the abundant national endowment s
He then wished the national population commission successful in its effort at achieving an accurate and acceptable population data for the country.
Earlier, Exclusive Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Nasiru Kwarra described the annual lectures series as instrumental and catalyst to.effective demographic.data collection exercise.
He remarked that Nigerias Population presents challenges and opportunities pointing out that the lectures wiil help to harness the collective wisdom to chart a course for the Commission.
The occasion was climaxed with decoration.of honorary membership of the Commission.and.launching of the Annual Lectures Compendium by Chairman Senate Committee on.Population and National.Identity, Senator Abdul Ningi.
