Nasarawa S/Court Verdict: Let’s Bury The Hatchet

By Yusufu Shehu Usman, mni. Now that the electoral contest for the seat of the governor of our State has been won and lost, I advice both sides of contest to bury the hatchet, close ranks and come together in unity in the interest of peace, good governance through rapid social and economic development, progress and prosperity of Nasarawa State

The opposition should play a constructive role to act as a watchdog, to keep the government on it’s toes and public policy in check and not only engage in destructive criticism but offer constructive suggestions and solutions to the government in power on how to improve

The ruling party in government should be magnanimous in victory and carry all the citizens along in it’s policies and programs.
The government should not witch hunt any body on account of political differences or other grievances related to the election and the marathon legal challenges in the aftermath of the polls

Nasarawa State belongs to all citizens, the politicians and all and we have equal stakes in the peaceful coexistence of our people, irresponsible of our ethnic, religious or political differences

This is a clarion call to all citizens of Nasarawa State to support the government in the interest of the State and for peace to reign across the State.

Without a broad based citizens support and cooperation, the government may not be in a position to deliver the dividend of democracy.

The beauty of democracy is that a party in opposition today, may be the party in power tomorrow and it will also need the support of the citizens and the party it defeated at the polls, to be able to deliver on it’s mandate.

Let’s shun political or ethnic acrimony and come together to promote peace and support the government of the day to deliver the dividend of democracy to our teeming population.
