As part of efforts towards providing greater services to residents of Karu, a gateway to Abuja, the Nasarawa State Government has established the Greater Karu Development Control Agency, following the approval for the implementation of the Nasarawa Urban and Regional Planning Law 2021.

This was made known by the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Ibrahim Uthman Angbolo at a press briefing shortly after the state executive council meeting held at Government House, Thursday.
According to the information commissioner, the implementation of the Nasarawa Urban and Regional Planning Law 2021 led to the splitting of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board into two, with the new nomenclature to be known as the Nasarawa Urban Development Agency and Greater Karu Development Control Agency. With this Development Greater Development Control Agency will operate independent from Nasarawa Urban Development Agency.
