
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stressed that his administration will not leave any stone unturned towards ensuring the full implementation of local government financial Autonomy in Nigeria.
President Tinubu made the commitment known while declaring open a stakeholders technical workshop on primary health care revitalization and operationalization program organised by the Association of local governments of Nigeria ALGON in collaboration with the development partners.
Represented by his special adviser on health Dr Salma Ibrahim Anas described Local government as administration as government of the people at the grassroots said his government will continue to support any effort to ensure that local government in Nigeria work again.
He applauded the ALGON national president Aminu Mu’azu Maifata for the initiative and reiterated his administration unwavering commitment in providing the necessary guidelines for the revitalization of primary health care system as part of deliberate efforts towards ensuring a universal health coverage in line with the renewed hope agenda on health.
In an address of welcome the ALGON national president Aminu Mu’azu Maifata appreciated president Tinubu for the absolute support given to succeed in the implementation of local government financial autonomy in Nigeria.
Maifata advocated the need for each local to have health communication office to ensure community engagement and develop models for awareness campaigns on health safety nets, health incubation centres to improve the performance of frontline health-care service, application and electronic medical records standardization and expressed hope that the participants will ba able to present their needs assessment.
The ALGON national president Aminu Mu’azu Maifata assured that the technical workshop is one among many programmes lined up by the association to complement the president’s efforts at ensuring the full implementation of local government financial autonomy and acknowledged the support and the political good will shown by state Governors and other critical stakeholders in supporting the local government financial autonomy.
Representatives of Development partners to include the world health organisation, NDDC , NLNG, Nigeria Governors forum NGF , Hon Minister of Budget and National planning Atiku Bagudu, Ministers of Justice,Finance and Health all declared support for ALGON on the revitalization and operationalization program primary health care system in 774 local government Areas in Nigeria.
