The Executive Secretary of Nasarawa state primary health care development agency, Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh, has again stressed the importance of nutrition to human development. Speaking at a one-day stakeholder meeting with local government authorities on resource mobilization for implementing nutrition activities at local government levels held in Abuja yesterday, the Executive Secretary said that malnutrition still remains one of the greatest obstacles to human development. He identified rapid urbanization and a fast-growing population with reduced GDP and increased inflation as factors  which led to a high rate of chronic malnutrition in Nigeria.
He expressed the determination of NAPHDA to provide all the necessary support towards government programs with regards to the campaign against malnutrition in Nasarawa State. The meeting was convened by the Nasarawa state ministry of finance in collaboration with
State Committee on Food and Nutrition (SCFN) with the support of the Accelerating Nutrition Result in Nigeria (ANRiN). The meeting was attended by all the stakeholders within and outside Nasarawa State.
