The Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NAPHDA) Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh has yesterday pledged to allocate employment slots to persons leaving with disabilities in the next employment of the agency whenever state government gives them approval to recruit primary health care workers. He stated this while receiving the Management of Disability Right Commissions (DRC) led by its Chairman Sale Barde Keana and his Management team in NAPHDA office complex Lafia. while stressing the need included the physically challenged persons ES said that ”the Executive Chairman don’t hurry your slots will be granted by God grace”.
Assuring the Chairman of DRC to provide easy access for the persons with disability to enter any public building, Dr. Iskilu stated that it is a principle in Primary Health Care that 5A’s are strictly observed. The A’s according to him were: Accessibility, Affordability, Availability, Acceptability and Appropriate Technologies the 5 A’s we most have to complied with in the health sector. For your concern of accessibility I know by God grace will be corrected.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman DRC, Saleh Barde said that they were in the ES office to congratulate him for his well deserved appointment and appreciate him for all the supports given to people with disabilities in the state stating that ‘we are very pleased with this appointment. We so happy because of your anticident, because of your experience because of your vast knowledge in the medical field. We are very sure that you are going to uplift the standard of this noble organization. So we appreciate Governor Abdullahi Sule for appointing One of us. Because as a young person as you are I know you are not going to disappoint him.”
The Chairman further stressed the purpose of the visit saying that ”we are here to also thank you for all that you been doing not only to the entire state but for the Disability Right Commission. I know when you come newly we wrote a letter to you seeking for technical support by providing health care men for us during our medical outreach”.
Barde appealed to the ES to make provisions in their facilities that would allowed person with disabilities easy access to their facilities regardless of their physical situational challenges. ”The issue of accessibility you know what when we come here, the meeting supposed to hold in your office but because of the structure is not accessible for people with disabilities you decided to change the venue of the meeting to hold it here. Even before coming here some of us has some issues because there is no provision for us. As a commission it one of our mandates to follow all the organizations to see compliance with accessibility. There is a law that said every public structure should be build in such a way a person leaving with disability can be able to access it”.
The DRC boss further solicited for more collaborations with the NAPHDA to provide free medical service to the person with disabilities ” want to request for free medical service to persons with disabilities. Eighty 80% of person leaving with disability worldwide have one medical issues or the other. It is had to see any physical challenged person without single medical problem.
Meanwhile the ES went round offices with NAPHDA to inspect staff of the various Departments and exchange greetings to know the various challenges of the section of the agency. The ES later inspected primary healthcare Lafia East where he was taking round the clinic.
