Against the background of a fatal incident that claimed the lives of 25 people with over 35 others injured at a total roundabout in Kofar Hausa-keffi, the Senator representing Nasarawa West, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, has called for prioritising the safety protection of the lives of citizens.
Moving a motion under a Matter of Urgent Public Importance, Senator Wadada drew the attention of the Senate to the tragic and repeated accidents occurring at the Total roundabout in Kofar Hausa-keffi, where 25 people lost their lives and 35 were fatally injured.
In moving the motion, Senator Wadada prayed the Senate to direct the Honourable Minister of Works to urgently submit a proposed timeline for the construction of a flyover bridge at the said roundabout to alleviate traffic congestion and ensure the safety of road users. Senator Wadada further called for observation of a minute of silence in honour of the lives lost in this unfortunate incident.
The Senate graciously granted all the prayers sought by Senator Wadada, including the observance of a minute silence for the departed souls.
As we mourn this tragic loss, let us continue to advocate for proactive measures that prioritise safety and protect the lives of our citizens. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may the injured find swift recovery,” Senator further added.
