In a bid to cushion the effect of current economic hardship among the less privileged individuals in the society, the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NAPHDA), Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh, has launched a charity foundation known as Iskilu Charity for Alleviation, which started distribution of monetary support to about 500 underprivileged individuals in Lafia on Saturday, December 7, 2014.
The distribution of monetary support, which took place at Laying Mai Azara, Lafia, was among some of the interventions that the Iskilu charity foundation undertook in order to complement the efforts of Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule’s administration in supporting the needy in the society.
He said the N5000 monthly stipends to support the underprivileged will be sustained till the end of his tenure as executive secretary of NAPHDA, adding that the number of beneficiaries will keep increasing with time. While praying to Almighty Allah for the success of the foundation, Dr. Iskilu said the present situation in the country requires rendering assistance from anybody who has the means. He observed that one need not be wealthy before he offers assistance, saying that one can as well assist with a little that he has and seek a reward from God.
Commenting on the gestures being offered by Dr. Iskilu, one of the elders in the community, Dr. Hashimu Ada applauded Engr. Abdullahi Sule for appointing Dr. Iskilu to pilot the affairs of the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, stating that the appointment is well deserved considering his track record in the medical field. He thanked Dr. Iskilu for remembering his people and for coming to their plight. He stressed that such efforts are worthy of commendations and emulation by all political appointees.
One of the beneficiaries, Mama Balkisu, did not hide her joy after getting her N5000 monthly stipend; she appreciated Dr. Iskilu Charity Foundation for Alleviation of Poverty for the support, praying for Almighty Allah to reward him abundantly.
Another beneficiary Mohammad Magaji said he was satisfied with the manner in which the beneficiaries were selected and the process of disbursing the funds, stating that it is very transparent. He prayed to God to continue to bless Dr. Iskilu and answer all his requests.
Also commending the Dr. Iskilu Charity Foundation, Mallam Musa Abubakar, Dakachi Laying Super, applauded Engr. A.A. Sule for appointing their son as ES of NAPHDA, describing the appointment as well-deserved. According to him, Governor Abdullahi Sule is worth our commendations for appointing one of our sons to a key position, and now he is using his position to support us for us to feel the impact of government, Dagachi, stressed.
