Yuletide: Nasarawa Acting Governor Felicitate With Christians

As Christians celebrate this year’s Christmas, Acting Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe has felicitate with the fateful, urging them to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ by showing love and affection to each other.

The Nasarawa State Acting Governor made the call in a message he personally signed and issued to journalists in Lafia on Tuesday.

While felicitating with Christians in the state and the country at large, Dr. Akabe added that the period also teaches the faithful to be humble and respect the sanctity of life and respect for each other.

“I wish to use this blissful occasion to call on all Christians to utilize the blessings of this period to continue to pray for the sustainable peace, health, wellbeing and prosperity of our nation. This is why it behooves on us to remain resolute in our prayers for harmonious co-existence of the people of Nasarawa State and the country at large,” he stated.

He used the opportunity of the moment to also call for prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment towards providing good governance and purposeful leadership.

The Acting Governor further called on the people to remain steadfast and focus in spite of the hardship being experienced across the country as a result of some economic policies being implemented by the Federal Government with a view to turning around the fortunes of the citizens.

“I urge us to remain focused, as the result of these policies would lead us to sustainable growth and development.There is light already at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

He equally enjoined Christians in the state to pray for Governor Abdullahi Sule for God to continue to bless him with the wisdom to lead the state aright, for peace, stability and prosperity of the state.

The Acting Governor also used the opportunity of the festive period to caution the people against excessive celebrations, appealing to them to mark the festivities with moderation.

According to him, the Christmas and New Year festivities are not a period for indulgence in criminal or immoral activities that are contrary to the teachings of Christ.

“We should avoid flamboyance and extravagance but rather remember and turn to those who cannot afford,” he added.

Dr. Akabe also commiserated with the people and governments of Oyo, Anambra States, as well as the FCT, where several people lost their lives as a result of stampede during sharing of Christmas palliatives in Ibadan, Okija and Abuja.

He finally called on the people to obey traffic rules and regulations towards ensuring safety on roads throughout the duration of the festivities.

“In this regard, let me re-echo that, the officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission and other relevant agencies are obliged to step up their operations and surveillance to ensure accident-free yuletide season,” he said.
