Governor Abdullahi Sule, during a courtesy visit to him at Shendam Road Government House in Lafia by Akwanga Stakeholders, including traditional rulers, was quoted as telling all his supporters that he has no senatorial ambition and particularly called on those already campaigning for him to join the race for Nasarawa North senate seat to desist henceforth as he focuses on delivering on his mandate given to him by the entire people of the state. While distancing himself from any political campaigns linking him to any senatorial ambition come 2027, Governor Sule said:“I have been focusing my attention on the fact that, by the grace of God, the next two years will be the best years ever for our administration. We are doing our best to do that. But you know we can’t do that if we are distracted by campaigns. If you see anybody campaigning for A. A. Sule as a senator, the person is doing it on his own. I have not told anybody that I am interested in going for Senate. This public declaration by Governor Sule on his purported senatorial ambition was apt and couldn’t have come at a better time than now. Governor Sule is one politician that doesn’t hide his feelings about anything, not even his future ambition. We salute his courage for coming out publicly to distance himself against all the smearing aimed at distracting his attention from the mandate given to him by the people of Nasarawa state. By this declaration, Governor Sule has shown to the people that the interest of Nasarawa State is far and above his personal interest. At this juncture, we in Nasarawa Eye are calling on whoever is holding a political position under Governor Sule’s administration and is interested in contesting for an elective office come 2027 to either resign or to tow the line of Governor Sule, which is to come out to distance himself from such ambition. This newspaper believes that there are many office holders under this government who are still occupying political office and yet holding ambition of contesting elections in 2027. Some time ago, Governor Abdullahi Sule had cause to issue a statement through the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) directing whoever is holding political office and is interested in vying for an elective office in 2027 to resign to avoid a conflict of interest, but to date we have not seen anybody that abides by this directive despite the fact that many of them are potential politicians with their eyes on 2027. Against this background we are urging Governor Abdullahi Sule to fish out these politicians and show them the way out since they cannot obey simple instructions. These politicians: anyone living in Nasarawa knows them and their activities.
