Senator Wadada And His Unwarrantable Detractors

By Rayyanu Bala.                       Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, as we all know for sure, is going to contest the governorship election in Nasarawa State come 2027. And we all know for sure he has all the capabilities, as well as the exposure and the financial wherewithal, to not only aspire for this governorship but also to win the election. And we all know his detractors are, of course, having a sleepless night thinking and working to see how they could undo him using all the arsenals in their possessions. They keep dropping one arsenal after the other, which, in their own imaginations, could downgrade his popularity among the peace-loving people of Nasarawa State, but anytime such arsenal touches the ground, his popularity gets surged, making people begin to say, ‘Wadada Ikon Allah.’ Yes, the chorus song now among both the young and the elderly in nooks and crannies of Nasarawa is ‘Wadada Ikon Allah…’ If you don’t know this, then know it now. Now it appears the arsenal in the possession of Wadada’s opponents is exhausted; the only one left now is: ‘Wadada is not respectful; he doesn’t respect political leaders in the state.’ They kept drumming this into the ears of whoever cared to listen to them, but all this was in vain as it had no effect whatsoever. Only recently he {Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu} hosted some select journalists in his Keffi residence, where he held a no-holds-barred interview with them, and questions of local and national importance were raised and satisfactory answers were given by no less than Senator Wadada himself. But one intriguing question that, when answered, left me spellbound was the one centred on Wadada’s alleged disrespectful actions against elders. Listen to Senator Wadada’s answer: “May the soul of my late father rest in perfect peace. I am happy you asked this question because there are two of my elders in this room, Lawal Ramalan Maizabu and Imam Rajab. These are my elders. Lawal Ramalan Maizabu has been much closer because we were neighbours, and I used to run to his father to come and save me from the wrath of my late father any time I went wrong. I was well bred; the only difference is that you cannot trample on me, and I will allow you to go. That is all. When my creator and your creator have said that He honours mankind because of some temporary privileges you enjoy, I accord you respect, and you feel you can trample on me; that is when you will see the other side of me. Otherwise, if I am not respectful, how could I withdraw my case in 2015? I am a very, very, very respectful person indeed to even those that are younger than me, but you cannot take me for granted. The moment you do, I will look up to your face and tell you to go to hell. And mind my business, and in this part of the world, minding your business and saying it as it is is disrespectful. In every divine outing, there is the human aspect of it”.I am very sorry for making you go through this lengthy quotation; I just do that to let you see who Senator Wadada is and to also appreciate the kind of manner he has. Now the question to ask at this juncture is who are these Wadada’s detractors that are afraid of his raising profile?. Well, we all know them and their abode, but we shall expose them as we head to 2027. But why are they afraid of Senator Wadada? Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu remains one politician in Nasarawa state who some, if not all, politicians are afraid of. Afraid not because he has a huge physique, not because he has exceptional talents, but because he has the heart that they do not have. Yes, most of our politicians in Nasarawa state, they do not have Senator Wadada’s heart; they are all treacherous politicians; you can only see them or see their efforts when another election cycle is on the corner; as soon as the election is over, they just vamoose or disappear into thin air. But Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu always remains with the people; election or no election, winning or losing, he is with the people. These are the fundamental reasons some politicians are afraid of him.Since he has the heart, which they do not have, they would do anything to undermine him using both known and unknown tactics, of which they failed woefully in all these machinations. In a world where selfishness and indifference dominate our daily interactions, Senator Wadada remains a refreshing but good reminder of a person who has the heart of gold whose generosity and unwavering commitment to helping others are an inspiration to all. You can’t find Senator Wadada’s qualities and characteristics in our politicians today in Nasarawa State. They are all selfish lots who think one is only relevant during elections; they think they can achieve their ambition in life by using the use and dumb strategy. While in actual fact Senator Wadada is not the type, he is a politician who’s not selfish and indifferent to the sufferings of the people; all his thinking centres on how to solve the problem of the people. All his thinking bothers on how to better the life of the people. The word “use and dumb” doesn’t even exist in Senator Wadada’s psyche; you just need to go close to him to understand “use and dumb” doesn’t exist in him.Senator Wadada’s effort at betterment of the people’s lives doesn’t stop at his personal level,  but goes beyond. For example, at the setting of the Senate Committee on Finance during the the 2025 budget defence, on Monday, Senator Wadada bitterly frowned at the manner in which the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy is going about discharging the affairs of the Ministry. Senator Wadada was quoted as expressing grave concern over the continued depletion of the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CFR) through “Ways and Means,” in which he said over N6 trillion has been deducted from the CFR as interest on these charges. He noted that ‘If even 50% of this amount, that is, N3 trillion, remains in the CFR, it could significantly address the pressing needs and aspirations of Nigerians.” While calling for urgent measures to halt the abuse of “Ways and Means,” Senator Wadada also reminded the minister of the unfulfilled promise of a N50,000 token meant for Nigerians as part of a social intervention programme. He further noted, “As politicians we are closest to the people, and the pressure from constituents regarding the non-payment of these funds has been overwhelming.”. Just from this week’s activities of Senator Wadada on the floor of the Senate, which included his outburst at the setting of the finance committee on the 2025 budget, Senator Wadada is a man who cares about the people and cares about Nigeria, which, of course, Nasarawa State is one of the constituent units.Of course, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada is the type of leader we want in Nasarawa State, a leader whose only passion in life is to see to the welfare of the people irrespective of tribe or religion. A man who can say it as it is regardless of your status. He is indeed a shining example of a man who impacted positively on the people around him, and it is our firm conviction that he can replicate it when he becomes our governor in 2027.And to all Wadada’s detractors, we make bold to say that your actions against Senator Wadada are unwarranted and will not yield any fruits just as they failed to yield any in the past.
