Editorial: Gov Sule And His New Cabinet

As commissioners and members of the State Executive Council of Nasarawa State prepare to assume office Monday, following their inauguration by Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule today, it is crucial that everyone contributes to the success of this administration. The responsibility for ensuring the effectiveness of Engr. Sule’s governance over the next two years does not rest solely on the executive council members or the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Labaran Magaji.

The success of Engr. Abdullahi Sule’s administration ultimately depends on all citizens of Nasarawa State. The remaining year of his term is critical and fraught with political maneuvers and potential betrayals from those in positions of authority whom the governor has trusted. As the end of this administration approaches, political appointees may shift their loyalties to factions they believe will prevail in upcoming elections, diminishing the governor’s influence over them.

This phenomenon explains why elections following a governor’s or president’s two- term tenure are often particularly challenging. Betrayals and disloyalty become evident, complicating the process of selecting a successor. At Nasarawa Eye, we believe that as we enter this final stage of Engr. Sule’s administration, it is our collective duty to not only support his efforts but also to ensure that his successor is capable of continuing his work. This successor must be well-connected and able to attract more investors and federal presence to our state.
