Aminu Muazu Maifata, the former National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), the former ALGON chairman Nasarawa state and Former chairman of Lafia Local Government was recently sworn in as the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development in Nasarawa State. This appointment marks a significant milestone in Aminu Muazu’s illustrious career first as civil servant and now as season politician. His appointment by Engr Abdullahi sule was indeed, meant to leveraging his wealth of experience to strengthen the state’s local government system.
Maifata’s political lineage is rooted in his family; his late father, Alhaji Muazu Maifata, was a prominent politician in Lafia thus, Aminu Muazu Maifata has followed his father’s footsteps aimed at demonstrating a strong commitment to service of the people. He previously served as the Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area, where he implemented numerous projects aimed at improving education, healthcare, and infrastructure. His tenure as ALGON National President and ALGON state chairman further solidified his expertise in local governance.
As Commissioner for local government, Chieftaincy Affairs and community development, Maifata’s tasked is not only to oversee local government operations but to ensure they are run efficiently and effectively. His goal is to empower local governments to deliver essential services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructures. All along Maifata’s vision in life aligns with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s objectives to enhance local governance and achieve sustainable development through responsive governance. Going forward, Aminu Muazu Maifata, as the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government in Nasarawa State, plans to improve local government services by encouraging local governments to deliver essential services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
