NSHA Confirms Ibrahim Musa As Substantive Clerk, Paul Okugya As Deputy,Attends To Two Bills After Resumption From Sallah Break

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has approved the appointment of Mr Ibrahim Abdulazeez Musa as substansive Clerk of the House.

Ibrahim A. Musa was the Acting Clerk of the House from December 6, 2023 during the ill health of the late Clerk, Ego Maikeffi Abashe, who died on 1 March 2025.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, who announced the appointment during the House proceedings in Lafia the state capital today also said Mr. Paul Okugya was appointed as the Deputy Clerk of the House.

Before his appointment as Deputy Clerk, Mr Paul Okugya was Director of Protocol of the House.

The Speaker congratulated them on their new elevations and wished them well in their new assignments just as he directed members to observe a minute silence in honour of the late Clerk, Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe.

Similarly, during the day sitting, the Speaker welcomed members from the sallah break and attend to the first bill in the order paper of the day which was “A Bill for a Law to Amend the Re-enacted Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission Law 2023 and other Incidental Matters Thereto” which was passed for first reading and Speaker slated 28th April 2025 for second reading after the House Leader Hon. Suleiman Azara moved a motion for the bill to scale reading which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba.

In the same vein, member representing Lafia Central constituency, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki presented his private member bill for the first reading which was ” A Bill for a Law to Establish Lafia General Hospital and Other Related Matters Thereto” and was seconded by Barr. Esson Mairiga member representing Lafia North Constituency.

The Speaker of the House, Dr. Danladi Jatau fixed 29th April 2025 for second reading of the bill.
