Friends and Associates joined in celebration this week to mark the birthday anniversary of Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development. Widely recognized as a pillar of grassroots governance, Hon. Maifata’s birthday became an occasion to reflect on his exceptional contributions to public service and community development.
Born into a politically active family, Hon. Maifata inherited a legacy of leadership from his late father, Alhaji Muazu Maifata, a prominent figure during Nigeria’s Second Republic. Inspired by this background, he launched a determined political journey that culminated in his election as Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area on May 26, 2018, after several earlier attempts.
As chairman, Maifata led with a community-first approach, initiating transformative projects across Lafia.
Hon. Maifata’s leadership reached the national stage when he served as the President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). There, he advocated for uniform four-year tenures for local government officials to promote continuity, accountability, and quality representation at the grassroots level.
In February 2025, Governor Abdullahi Sule appointed Hon. Maifata as the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development — a move seen by many as a reinforcement of local governance in the state.
Since his appointment, he has prioritized strengthening local administrations and ensuring that services reach rural communities more effectively.
As friends, and associates sent in thier goodwill messages to Hon. Maifata on his birthday, they celebrate more than a personal milestone — they celebrate a life of service, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the betterment of Nasarawa State.
