Speaking to journalists in a press briefing that carried echoes of political unity and strategic alignment, former Nasarawa State Governor and Senator, Umar Tanko Al-Makura, made it clear that the CPC faction has no intention of breaking away or aligning with any emerging coalitions aimed at challenging the APC’s dominance.

“We remain loyal to our party, the APC, and firmly supportive of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Senator Al-Makura declared, dispelling speculations that the former CPC members might be considering an alternative political path.

The CPC bloc, a key legacy group that merged into the APC in 2013 during the landmark opposition consolidation, has played a vital role in shaping the party’s identity and electoral fortunes. The reassurance from one of its most prominent figures underscores a determination to maintain internal cohesion at a time when political alliances across the country are beginning to shift in preparation for the next general election cycle.

Al-Makura emphasized that the ideals that initially brought the CPC into the APC fold—principles centered on progressivism, discipline, and national development—remain alive and binding. “We will not enter into any form of coalition against President Tinubu. The majority of us who came from CPC are firmly behind this administration,” he said.
