Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has restated his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his commitment to the progressive ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC), amid recent allegations made by a group known as the North-Central APC Forum.
In a strongly worded rejoinder issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, the governor described the allegations made by Alhaji Saleh Zazagga, who claimed to represent the North-Central APC Forum, as false, misleading, and an attempt to sow division within the party.
Zazagga had accused Governor Sule of playing a “double game” regarding President Tinubu’s potential second-term bid and claimed the governor opposed recent tax reforms championed by the federal government. However, Governor Sule’s office has dismissed the claims as “deliberate misrepresentations” and “a glaring disconnect from the facts.”
The rejoinder emphasized Governor Sule’s consistent support for President Tinubu’s administration and clarified that recent comments made by the governor about former President Muhammadu Buhari were taken out of context.
“Governor Sule’s reference to Buhari as the undisputed and symbolic leader of the defunct CPC bloc was a historical fact, not a political slight,” Addra stated. “It was neither an endorsement of division nor a contradiction of unity efforts within the APC.”
The statement further criticized the attempt to create a rift between Governor Sule and his predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, noting that both leaders have enjoyed a cooperative political relationship and remain aligned in strengthening the APC in Nasarawa and beyond.
Addressing claims regarding tax reforms, the governor’s office explained that Governor Sule merely represented the consensus of Northern governors and traditional rulers in engaging constructively with federal authorities. The statement added that the president and National Assembly eventually embraced the position presented by the Northern leaders, proving Sule’s stance was both reasonable and in the national interest.
“Governor Sule has always supported policies that stimulate economic growth and investment, which aligns with President Tinubu’s long-term economic vision,” Addra affirmed.
The governor’s office urged Zazagga and his group to cease divisive rhetoric and instead support ongoing efforts to unite all party blocs under the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Unity and constructive engagement, not divisive politics, will secure APC’s future,” the statement concluded.
Governor Sule, according to his spokesperson, remains focused on consolidating party unity and ensuring the APC remains the political platform of choice across Nasarawa State and the North-Central region.
