Senator Wadada Pledges To Liaise With Relavant Stakeholders For Repairs Of Damaged Lafia Injection Power Substation

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has pledged to engage relevant stakeholders within the power sector to facilitate the repair of the L15 injection Power Substation located along Shendam Road in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The substation, which serves as the primary power source for Nasarawa South, was severely damaged by a fire six years ago. Since then, electricity supply to the Lafia and southern zone has been erratic, with the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) forced to implement a rotational power schedule. Under this arrangement, communities receive electricity every other day—a situation that has persisted since the incident.

Frustrated by the prolonged crisis, residents and local stakeholders recently appealed to Senator Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the National Assembly, urging him to intervene. They called on him to engage with the Ministry of Power and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to compel AEDC to prioritize the restoration of the substation.

“The prolonged blackout has crippled economic activities and disrupted daily life for thousands of people in Nasarawa South,” the appeal stated. “We humbly urge the Senator to champion the restoration and repair of this critical infrastructure.”

Senator Wadada acknowledged the severity of the situation and reaffirmed his commitment to working with all relevant authorities to ensure that the substation is repaired and full power supply restored.

Advocates believe that reviving the L15 injection substation will not only restore reliable electricity to Lafia and surrounding communities but also revitalize economic growth and improve quality of life across the southern zone.
