In response to ongoing concerns about electricity supply in Lafia and its surrounding areas as consistently highlighted by Nasarawa Eye Newspaper, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State has taken proactive steps to address the issue. Yesterday, the Governor hosted a crucial meeting with the Managing Director of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Engr. Chijioke Okwuokenye, and his team to discuss the revitalization of key power infrastructure in the state.

The primary focus of the meeting was the resuscitation of the 2×15 MVA (L15) Injection Substation along Shendam Road in Lafia, a critical development that is expected to significantly improve electricity supply to Lafia. The state-owned Nasarawa State Electricity Board (NASEB) also played an essential role in the discussions, with its Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Yakubu Suleiman Umar, and the Covering Director of Operations and Maintenance Services, Engr. Cosmos L. Namo, representing the Board.
Governor Sule emphasized the importance of enhancing power distribution in Lafia, a growing metropolis, to meet the increasing demand for electricity and support local businesses and economic growth. “This collaboration is key to addressing the power challenges faced by our people and will go a long way in improving the quality of life in Nasarawa State,” said Governor Sule.
The discussions concluded with an agreement to move forward with the revitalization of the substation, signaling a significant step toward resolving the power supply issues that have long affected the state.
The meeting, held at the Nasarawa State Governors’ Lodge in Abuja, marks a milestone in the state government’s commitment to improving energy infrastructure and ensuring reliable electricity service for the people of Nasarawa.
This initiative is expected to bring long-term benefits to residents, enhancing the state’s economic potential and quality of living.
