As Nigeria celebrates yet another Democracy Day, a symbolic moment honouring the nation’s return to civil rule and the enduring struggle for democratic governance, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has issued a stirring message to the nation. In it, he underscores the pivotal role of democracy in Nigeria’s development, while highlighting both his personal journey in public service and his vision for a stronger, more inclusive country.

Representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Senator Wadada is no stranger to Nigeria’s democratic evolution. With a political career spanning over two decades, he has served at the highest levels of legislative governance, including a notable stint in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011, where he chaired two key committees: Capital Market and Institutions, and Information and National Orientation. Today, as a Senator and traditional titleholder, the Sarkin Yakin Keffi straddles both modern governance and cultural heritage.

In his Democracy Day message, Senator Wadada reflects deeply on Nigeria’s democratic journey, calling it “the heartbeat of our national aspirations.” For him, democracy is not just a political system, but a symbol of freedom, justice, and collective growth. Senator Wadada also reserved special praise for Nasarawa State’s Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, whom he hailed as an embodiment of people-centered leadership. Under Governor Sule’s administration, Nasarawa has become a beacon of peace and progress, a testament to what effective democratic governance can achieve at the subnational level.

Senator Wadada’s track record speaks volumes.
