The Tenth Senate of the Nigeria National Assembly came into full function on the 13th June 2023 with no fewer than 309 senators from each Senatorial district of the 36 states including the FCT which had one senator representing the municipal councils.
Nasarawa State being a federated unit got her share of senators that are representing the 3 Senatorial districts of the state.
It is 730 days ,24 months on record for a mid term report on how legislation and representation of the electorates has been fairly dispensed.
Nasarawa West represented by Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada appears lucky for vast and encompassing interventions that calls for know to what and how transformative his two years in office has impacted his constituents .
Senator Wadada, holds in the Senate chairmanship of the public accounts among other offices he is member.His amazing records started when he marked his first 100 days in office when Nigerians were grasping to survive the effect of subsidy removal by the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The senator known for his philanthropic gesture provided 300 trucks of bags of rice that was distributed across the constituency comprising Toto,Nasarawa, Keffi, Kokona and Karu, and months not too far from providing succour to members of his constituency, he bankrolled the empowerment of youths and women with skill acquisition equipments and farming implements for farmers.
Senator Wadada’s one year in office and the recorded achievements got residents of the Senatorial Zone with one fact to belief in ,A proof of difference rarely witnessed from his predecessors.He this time around stopped not at distributions of food items and skill acquisition empowerment but embarked on infrastructural development to enhance quality and easing up of the functions of employees in public institutions as schools and hospital.This ,senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada provided testing and diagnosis machines ,beds and drugs .While for schools ,renovations ,furniture and teaching aids.
And leaving now stone unturned ,Senator Wadada offered employment to no lesser number of hundred graduates that spread across state and federal civil service .Considering student unionism as key in the management of control of students affairs ,he offered 5 brand new Sharon buses to executives of each of the tertiary institutions in the state ,they included , Federal Poly Nasarawa, Federal University Lafia, College of Education Akwanga, College of Agriculture Science and Technology Lafia and the Nasarawa State Polytechnic Lafia .
Moving forward the rural communities and their challenges also got share of the dividend of democracy from the lawmaker.The impact on communities across Nasarawa Western zone spans from.rural electrifications ,street solar lights , drilling of motorized boreholes and roads construction became the delight of Senator Wadada as it illuminate towns and villages ,that has helped in reducing crime.
His impact in respect to legislative duties is one laudable record that few of his colleagues met.Senator Wadada under the year in review has sponsored 12 bills,that has direct bearing.To mention but a few are Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act (Amendment) bill, to create a School of Fishery and Aquatic Sciences Umaisha at Toto LGA. 2023 Wednesday 4th October 2023, Audit service bill, 2023 (to create an Audit Service Board to reposition the office of the Auditor General for greater efficiency for the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 5th October 2023 and Federal Land Registry (Miscellaneous Provision) Act 7th October 2023.
Others includes Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission Act (Amendment) bill, 2023-31st October, 2023, Federal Airports Authority (FAA) Act (Amendment) bill, 2024-29th February 2024,Motion on clearing illegal drop off and pick up points in Abuja metropolis to provide easy access for vehicles of essential service providers at times of emergency.
And A bill for an Act to amend the National Productivity Centre Act. A bill for creation of the FCT satellite town’s development Commission.
As well as an act to upgrade the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa to a Federal University of mining, Engineering and technology Nasarawa.
