Governor Sule: Grassroots Deserve Utmost Attention, Swears In Special Adviser, 18 Area Administrators

Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance, stating that “our people at the grassroots deserve utmost attention.”

He made this declaration on Monday during the official swearing-in ceremony of a Special Adviser and Administrators for the state’s 18 Area Administrative Councils.

Addressing a gathering of dignitaries, government officials, party supporters, and stakeholders at the Government House in Lafia, Governor Sule emphasized the strategic importance of the appointments in boosting local governance and enhancing the delivery of government services to rural communities.

The Governor commended the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for their cooperation in screening and confirming the nominees, highlighting their consistent support in strengthening governance processes since the inception of his administration over six years ago.

He announced the appointment of Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Loko as Special Adviser on Inter-Governmental Affairs, describing him as an experienced democrat whose expertise will contribute meaningfully to the administration’s policy direction. Governor Sule also mentioned the recent appointment of Alfa Yusufu Tsenya as Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, underlining the administration’s ongoing efforts to bring competent individuals into government.

In a significant policy move, the Governor reiterated that the newly sworn-in Administrators are expected to work under the guidance of elected Local Government Chairmen and not as co-chairmen. They are to serve as the Chief Security Officers of their respective councils and play key roles in the State Economic Council, Finance, and General Purpose Committees.

“Our aim is to revitalize the local administrative system to complement the efforts of elected officials and bring government closer to the people,” Governor Sule said. “You must uphold transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.”

Governor Sule issued a stern warning against truancy, indiscipline, and early politicking, urging the appointees to remain focused on service delivery. He stressed the need for improved discipline among civil servants at the third tier of government, noting that absenteeism and nonchalance would no longer be tolerated.

He concluded by congratulating the appointees and charging them to deliver on their mandates with utmost dedication, discipline, and loyalty.

“Remain committed to the service of the people, and let peace and development be your guiding principles,” the Governor advised.

The event marks another step in the Sule administration’s broader agenda to deepen grassroots development, promote accountability, and enhance public service delivery across Nasarawa State.
