The All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa State Working Committee has issued a stern warning against a covert campaign aimed at destabilizing the party’s leadership within the state. According to a press statement released today, certain individuals, allegedly led by a gubernatorial aspirant, are purportedly working to foment division and disrupt the progress made under the current State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule.
The party revealed it has obtained credible evidence indicating that officials from Gayam ward are being mobilized to initiate the expulsion of the State Party Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello. The statement also disclosed the tracing of a suspicious financial transaction of 50,000 naira linked to the accounts of these individuals, several of whom have reportedly already traveled to Abuja to execute their plans.
The APC Nasarawa State Working Committee has referred the matter to security agencies for immediate investigation.
In its statement, the party emphasized that ward officials do not have the constitutional authority to pass votes of no confidence, suspend, or expel members of the State Executive Committee. The party has cautioned that any official found to be involved in these activities would face strict disciplinary action in accordance with the APC constitution.
The press release was signed by High Chief Mi Otaru Douglas Ogborère, the State Publicity Secretary, who reiterated the party’s commitment to maintaining unity and discipline within APC in Nasarawa State.
The APC urged members and supporters to remain calm and uphold the principles of the party as investigations continue.
