We read with interest the recent publication titled “2025: Dr. Faisal Shuaib Emerging As Frontrunner To Succeed Governor Sule”, published by Nasarawa Mirror Today Saturday, July 5, 2025. While the piece made an attempt to reflect the dynamic and evolving political landscape of Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections, we must register our concern over the superficial treatment of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s candidacy and the attempt to downplay his formidable influence and wide acceptability.
Let it be stated clearly: Senator Wadada is not just a contender, he is the heartbeat of Nasarawa state and a leading light in the state’s political future.
The narrative that seeks to cast his defection from the APC as a liability is misleading, if not outright disingenuous. Senator Wadada’s departure from the APC was an act of principle, rooted in a resolute stand against injustice and imposition, qualities that have further endeared him to the masses. His resounding victory under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2023, against the full weight of some elements is a testament to his unmatched grassroots support, political savvy, and moral courage.
Indeed, no other candidate commands the kind of organic, cross-sectional loyalty that Wadada enjoys today, from farmers in Awe to students in Keffi, traders in Karu to professionals in Lafia. He is not merely penetrating the grassroots, he is the grassroots, a son of the soil whose political journey is deeply intertwined with the hopes and aspirations of the people.
Attempts to reduce his prospects to a “rift” with Senator Abdullahi Adamu are at best outdated and at worst, a deliberate distraction. Nasarawa politics has evolved. The people are no longer beholden to such sentiments but to those who stand with them. Senator Wadada’s proven record in the National Assembly, his legislative clarity, and his philanthropic engagements speak louder than any imagined conflict.
The zoning debate, while very important, should not be used to exclude credible aspirants. All along this is the position of Senator Wadada. And no one embodies the hopes of Nasarawa state than him.
We call on the media and political observers to assess candidacies based on integrity, vision, track record, and mass appeal. The writing is on the wall: Wadada is not only electable, he is inevitable.
Let the people decide. And when they do, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada will rise not on the strength of political structures alone but on the unshakable will of the people of Nasarawa State.
