In a powerful show of unity and solidarity, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Nasarawa State, Hon. Dr. Aliyu Bello, received a high-powered delegation of Executive Chairmen from the state’s 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) during a courtesy visit to reaffirm their unwavering support for his leadership.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Nasarawa State, Hon. Safiyanu Isah Andaha.
The visit was against the background of crisis fueled by a few dissenting voices from the Gayam Electoral Ward calling for the removal of Dr. Bello as party chairman.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting council leaders, Hon. Safiyanu minced no words in condemning the agitation, labeling it as a “distraction” orchestrated by individuals not acting in the party’s or the state’s best interest.
“We came here today to show our total support to our party chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, and to assure him that we are solidly behind him,” said Hon. Safiyanu. “The attempts to destabilize the party using the Gayam Ward crisis are unfortunate and do not represent the views or aspirations of the larger APC family in Nasarawa State.”
Dr. Aliyu Bello, who also serves as the Governing Board Chairman of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), expressed gratitude for the visit and the overwhelming show of solidarity. In his remarks, he dismissed the issue as not just a personal attack but a calculated move to undermine the APC and the administration of Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule.
“This is not about me as a person,” Dr. Bello stated. “It is about the APC, our collective vision, and the progressive governance we are championing under the leadership of Governor Sule. The opposition is watching, hoping to sow confusion and break our ranks. But with this kind of unity, they will not succeed.”
He called on the local government chairmen to continue to be pillars of support for the party and to remain focused on delivering good governance at the grassroots level, which he said is key to maintaining the party’s dominance in the state.
The visit by the 13 LGA chairmen comes at a crucial time for the APC in Nasarawa State. With local dynamics often playing a decisive role in broader political outcomes, the united front demonstrated by these grassroots leaders could prove to be a turning point in stabilizing internal party politics.
As political tides shift and party lines are tested across Nigeria, the solidarity shown to Dr. Bello highlights a deeper message that in Nasarawa State, the APC’s foundation remains strong and its leadership secure, despite isolated efforts to cause division.
Similarly the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State and Governing Board Chairman of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Hon. Dr. Aliyu Bello, on also received members of the Gayam Polling Unit Monitoring Team at his residence.
The visit was a courtesy call by the team, who came to express their unwavering commitment, support, and loyalty to Dr. Bello. The group, which shares roots with the Chairman from the same polling unit, reaffirmed their dedication to the APC’s vision and grassroots development.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Bello expressed appreciation for the show of solidarity, describing it as a strong demonstration of unity and party loyalty. He commended the monitoring team for their consistent efforts and encouraged them to remain steadfast in promoting the party’s ideals at the community level.
“You have shown that loyalty begins from the grassroots, and I urge you to continue to be ambassadors of progress in our polling unit and across the state,” he said.
The visit underscores the importance of local support and community engagement in strengthening party structures ahead of future electoral activities.
