In a bid to improve the quality of healthcare delivery in primary healthcare facilities across the state, the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA) has donated essential hospital equipment to the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Agbalagu, located in the East Development Area of Nasarawa State.
The donated items included delivery beds, hospital beds, weight measuring scales, mama kits, health worker uniform kits, bedsheets, and curtains. The equipment was officially handed over to the District Head of Agbalagu by a representative of the Executive Secretary (ES), Hajiya Hauwa, during a brief ceremony held at the District Head’s palace.
While presenting the items, the ES’s representative urged the community to make judicious use of the facilities. She reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening PHCs in both rural and urban areas for more efficient healthcare delivery. She also announced automatic employment for a volunteer health worker currently serving at the Agbalagu PHC in recognition of their dedication.
In his remarks, the District Head expressed deep appreciation to NAPHDA and the Executive Secretary for responding to the community’s longstanding need for improved healthcare equipment. He pledged to ensure that the donated items would be properly used for the benefit of the people.
“I am happy you arrived safely in our community, and I pray for your safe return. On behalf of the entire Agbalagu community, I sincerely appreciate the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency for this kind support. The items you have brought will certainly make a difference. I assure you that they will be used judiciously to serve our people,” the District Head said.
As a gesture of gratitude and in recognition of the ES’s contributions toward improving healthcare in the area, the District Head also announced the conferment of a traditional title, Hasken Garin Agbalagu (The Light of Agbalagu), on the Executive Secretary.
Also speaking during the event, a youth leader in the community, Adamu Abdul, expressed joy over the support received from the state government through NAPHDA under the leadership of Dr. Iskilu. He noted that the new facilities would go a long way in helping residents access basic healthcare services more easily.
