During his visit to Aren Akun palace His Royal Highness James B. A. Angbazo, last week to celebrate to with him on his Thanksgiving ceremony, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu demonstrated a trait commonly associated with someone genuinely committed to serving the people wholeheartedly. The way he engaged with all the personalities present reflected a selfless interest in governance and a deep dedication to public service.
Just like at Akun Palace, everywhere Senator Wadada goes, the story is the same, he is always not only the center of attention but the center of attraction. People consistently look up to him as someone driven by a passion to develop the state, to continue where Engr Abdullahi Sule will stop in 2027.
As the 2027 gubernatorial election draws nearer, Nasarawa State finds itself at a political crossroads. Several aspirants have thrown their hats into the ring, each promising transformation, stability, and progress. Yet, when we move past the campaign billboards and political rhetoric, it becomes evident that among the contenders, no one matches Senator Ahmed Wadada in capacity, temperament, and readiness to lead.
It is a well known fact that governance is not about mere ambition, it is about responsibility. In a state as complex and diverse as Nasarawa state, the challenges ahead was beyond grandstanding as some aspirants are parading. We need a leader who combines deep policy understanding, grassroots empathy, and a calm, disciplined approach to power. Senator Wadada stands alone in meeting that standard.
Presently at the National Assembly, Senator Wadada is consistently demonstrating legislative competence and a commitment to equity. He is at forefront in championing key issues affecting the life of the people without any form of sentiments. He wasn’t just present in Abuja; he made the concerns of Nasarawa people heard and acted upon at the federal level.
But beyond experience, Senator Wadada’s temperament is perhaps his greatest asset. In today’s climate, where ego often overshadows service, he has proven to be a calm, thoughtful, and principled voice. He is not driven by personal ambition or sectional politics, but by a clear vision for a united and prosperous Nasarawa state.
Importantly, Senator Wadada’s connection with the grassroots has been consistent and sincere. Unlike others who reappear only during election cycles, he has remained present in communities, initiating development projects, empowering youth, and advocating for inclusive governance. This level of accessibility and sustained engagement shows that his interest in governance is not opportunistic, it is a lifelong commitment.
Nasarawa’s next governor must be someone who understands both the macro and micro dimensions of leadership like governor Abdullahi sule. It is not enough to speak of change; it takes capacity to deliver it. The next governor must be a person who is ready and willing to add to what the present administration is doing in tackling insecurity, unemployment, infrastructural decay, and disunity. These are not challenges that respond to slogans, they require competence, empathy, and resolve. Senator Wadada to say the least embodies all these attributes.
Other aspirants may offer excitement, but excitement without commitments to serve the people is dangerous. Senator Wadada offers a steady hand, backed by knowledge, maturity, and a deep love for the state. His track record speaks volumes.
As the 2027 elections approach, the people of Nasarawa must choose not just a politician, but a leader. One who can represent all ethnic groups and local governments fairly. One who understands Abuja, but never forgets all the 13 Local government areas of the state. One who listens to the people and acts on their behalf.
That leader is Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu
