Distinguished Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu visited the residence of one of his mentor late General Ahmed Abdullahi Aboki (Rtd), in Kaduna, yesterday.

The senator was received with warmth and deep appreciation by Hajiya Asma’u Ahmed Aboki, the widow of the late General, and other members of the Aboki family. What was expected to be a quiet stopover turned into a profound moment of remembrance, reflection, and emotional connection—underscoring the enduring respect by Senator Wadada.

The visit, though unannounced, came from the heart. Senator Wadada, visibly moved, spoke with reverence about the man he called a “trustworthy, dependable, and realistic mentor.” He described General Aboki as a leader who bore every responsibility with “integrity and honour,” not just as a military officer, but as a citizen dedicated to the betterment of his country and community.

General Aboki, who rose to the esteemed rank of General in the Nigerian military, was also a respected traditional titleholder, holding the title of Ajiyan Keffi in the Keffi Emirate, Nasarawa State. His legacy, as described by Senator Wadada, goes beyond his official titles—marked by compassion, wisdom, and an unwavering sense of duty to Nigeria.

The bond between the two men was forged over years. As Hajiya Asma’u expressed, Senator Wadada’s gesture of remembrance was “deeply touching” and a testament to a friendship that continues to live on in spirit.

“We are grateful for the Senator’s love and continued remembrance,” she said. “It means more than words can express.”

The visit culminated in a solemn moment of prayer as Senator Wadada asked Almighty Allah to grant General Aboki eternal rest and peace,  fitting end to a deeply personal homage.
