Senator Wadada Seeks Presidential Intervention for Keffi-Nasarawa-Toto Road Project

By Our Reporter

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Public Accounts Committee (SPAC), has formally appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a special intervention fund to accelerate the construction of the long-overdue Keffi-Nasarawa-Toto road.

In a letter dated August 13, 2025, Senator Wadada emphasized the strategic and socio-economic importance of the 118.01km road, which connects multiple communities in Nasarawa State to the Federal Capital Territory. The project, awarded to Wizchino Engineering Limited in August 2024 at a contract sum of ₦36.13 billion, has so far received ₦3.5 billion, with only 3.78% completion reported.

Describing the road as “a critical infrastructure project that has been long overdue for attention,” Wadada noted that its current deplorable condition has resulted in prolonged travel times, frequent accidents, and vehicle damage. He further stressed that the poor state of the road has discouraged investment, stifled economic activity, and significantly reduced the quality of life for residents, traders, and travelers who rely on it.

“Given the strategic importance of this road,” the senator wrote, “its completion would not only alleviate the suffering of the people but also serve as a visible sign of President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the infrastructural needs of Nigerians.”

Senator Wadada urged the President to consider and approve a special allocation of intervention funds to expedite the road’s construction.

The request has also been copied to the Minister of Works and Housing, Engr. David Nweze Umahi.

If granted, the intervention could be a significant boost for infrastructural development in Nasarawa State and a political win for the Tinubu administration, showcasing responsiveness to grassroots needs and national connectivity.
