In a move signaling deepening regional collaboration and a renewed focus on grassroots development, Nasarawa State Governor and Chairman of the North Central Governors’ Forum, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, welcomed the newly inaugurated leadership of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The high-powered delegation, led by the pioneer Managing Director of the Commission, Mr. Tsenyil Cyril Yiltsen, including the Executive Director of the Commission Hajiya Aisha Rufa’i Ibrahim, was on a courtesy visit to express appreciation to Governor Sule for his pivotal role in the establishment of the Commission. The NCDC was recently set up to address developmental challenges peculiar to the North Central states, which includes states such as Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory.

During the meeting, Mr. Yiltsen and his management team thanked Governor Sule not only for his steadfast advocacy for the creation of the Commission but also for the generous support provided by the Nasarawa State Government, notably the offer of office accommodation for the Commission’s operations in Lafia, the state capital.

“Your Excellency, we are here today to acknowledge your unwavering love, commitment, and passion for the development of the North Central zone. Without your efforts, this Commission may not have become a reality,” Yiltsen said. “We are also grateful for the warm gesture of providing an operational base for us in Lafia. This act of generosity underscores your dedication to the success of the NCDC.”

Governor Sule, in his remarks, reiterated the importance of the NCDC in driving sustainable development across the North Central geopolitical zone. He emphasized that the creation of the Commission was borne out of the need to bridge infrastructural gaps, foster economic growth, and provide a coordinated response to regional challenges.

“The North Central region has long yearned for an institutional framework to address its unique development needs. The NCDC is a product of collective aspiration and strategic foresight. As leaders of this region, we have a responsibility to support it fully,” Governor Sule said.

He also pledged continued collaboration between Nasarawa State and the Commission, stressing that regional progress requires synergy between states, federal agencies, and development partners.

The visit marks a significant milestone in the operationalization of the NCDC and reflects growing momentum in efforts to revitalize the North Central region through inclusive development policies and targeted interventions.

As the pioneer leadership of the Commission settles into their roles, expectations are high across the region for impactful programs that will uplift communities and stimulate economic activities in a region often overlooked in national development plans.
