The Return of Senator Wadada to APC: “In God We Trust”

By Rayyanu Bala

Yesterday Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, both conventional, online, and social media were abuzz with the news of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu’s formal return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) through a letter he addressed to the APC ward leadership in Keffi.

His return to the party is not, of course, surprising, as virtually everyone familiar with the political dynamics of Nasarawa State saw it coming

In a time when the political terrain is often clouded by personal ambition and short-term gain, the recent return of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu to the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands out as a political faith, that goes deeper spiritually hence, his popular slogan: “In God We Trust.”

Senator Wadada’s return to APC is a reaffirmation of purpose, values, and vision. When he says, “In God We Trust,” he is not merely echoing a phrase for campaign banners or podium speeches. He is pointing us toward a leadership model anchored in accountability, humility, and service to humanity under divine guidance.

His return to the APC is not a return for convenience. It is, as some have rightly said, a deliberate, thoughtful, and visionary step. Senator Wadada is not coming to “occupy space.” He has come to build, to unify, and to inspire others to cherish the values of APC.

Indeed, Senator Wadada’s slogan reminds us that politics, at its best, should not be divorced from moral responsibility. His belief in God’s purpose reflects in his actions, championing youth empowerment, women’s development, education, and infrastructure. All these are but a reflections of a servant leader who understands that power is a trust, not a privilege.

When a leader constantly invokes “In God We Trust,” it holds them to a higher standard. It means they are accountable not just to the people but to a moral compass that transcends party lines, ethnic divisions, and religious barriers. That is why, in a time when the state is so deeply polarized, so to speak, Senator Wadada’s politics remains refreshingly unifying.

However his return to APC could not have come at a more critical juncture. Nasarawa State needs bridge-builder in 2027, in the mould of Engr. Abdullahi Sule and that person is Senator Wadada. He is a “bridge-builder across party lines, ethnic lines, and religious lines.” This is no small feat. It is a feat which Senator Wadada attained through the help of Almighty.

This is leadership by example. By returning to the APC, he has shown that political movements can be driven by conviction and not just convenience. That even in a noisy political environment, there are still leaders who see politics as a sacred trust.

The phrase “In God We Trust” is not just for Senator Wadada alone to carry. It is a call to all of us, party faithful, elders, women, and especially the youths of Nasarawa State to rise above cynicism and recommit ourselves to the ideals of service, unity, and progress.

This is the time to rally around leaders who have a clear vision and a tested commitment to the people. This is the time to build Nasarawa that works for everyone, regardless of background or belief. Senator Wadada’s return reminds us that leadership can still be about hope, not fear; about service, not self; and about trust in one another and in God Almighty.

Let us not treat this moment as just another event in the political calendar of Nasarawa state Instead, let it be a turning point. Senator Wadada’s slogan, “In God We Trust,” offers a blueprint for leadership in this 21st century, leadership grounded in faith, driven by service, and guided by the belief that with unity and purpose, we can achieve the Nasarawa state of our dreams.

So yes, when we say “Wadada has come for good,” we mean it. He has come for the good of the people, the good of the party, and ultimately, the good that only God can ordain when a leader walks in humility and vision.

And in all this, we hold fast to that enduring creed:

In God We Trust.
