Alhaji Turaki Gamji:  Driving Nasarawa State’s Economic Growth Through Visionary Leadership

By Rayyanu Bala

In a demonstration of leadership and commitment to economic development, Aliyu Bello, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), paid an unexpected visit to Alhaji Turaki Gamji, CEO of Gamji Oil and Gas and President of the Nasarawa State Market Association. The visit took place yesterday at Turaki Gamji’s ongoing felling station project located in Tudu Gwandara, Lafia.

Alhaji Turaki Gamji has long been recognized as a pivotal figure in Nasarawa State’s business community. As the chairman of the Nasarawa State Market Traders Association, his efforts to improve the livelihoods of market traders and stimulate the local economy have been exemplary. Under his leadership, the association has not only advocated for better market facilities but also fostered a business-friendly environment that empowers traders to thrive.

The ongoing felling station project, a brainchild of Turaki Gamji, is set to become a significant contributor to the state’s economy. By providing a reliable and efficient facility for  motorists, the project is poised to create jobs, encourage local entrepreneurship, and increase the value of petroleum products within Nasarawa State. This initiative aligns with the broader economic development goals of the state government, promoting industrialization and diversification beyond traditional sectors.

Aliyu Bello’s surprise visit to the site underscores the importance of private sector-driven initiatives in the state’s development agenda. The APC chairman expressed his admiration for Turaki Gamji’s visionary approach and assured his support for projects that align with Nasarawa State’s economic growth strategies.

Alhaji Turaki Gamji’s dual role as both a successful entrepreneur and a leader of market traders uniquely positions him to champion economic advancement. His dedication extends beyond business interests to social empowerment, as he continually seeks to uplift market traders through capacity-building programs, access to credit facilities, and improved market infrastructure.

The felling station project in Tudu Gwandara stands as a step to what can be achieved when visionary leadership meets community-focused entrepreneurship. As Nasarawa State continues to diversify its economy, leaders like Alhaji Turaki Gamji provide the blueprint for sustainable development and inclusive growth.

In the words of Aliyu Bello during his visit, “The future of Nasarawa’s economy lies in the hands of committed leaders who are willing to invest in projects that create jobs and empower our people. Alhaji Turaki Gamji’s work is a shining example of this commitment.”

As this project progresses, it promises to not only bolster the local economy but also inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and market traders to pursue innovation and growth. With steadfast leaders like Turaki Gamji at the helm, Nasarawa State’s economic future looks brighter than ever.

On the sideline of the visit of the APC chairman to Turaki Gamji, Turaki Gamji emphasized the importance of togetherness, highlighting that the people of Lafia are essentially one and the same. He pointed out that all Lafia people are connected either through their maternal or paternal lineage, that is, through blood ties from either their father’s or mother’s side. Turaki Gamji traced the link between his parents and those of Aliyu Bello through their grandmother, Hajiya Yalala.

Both the APC chairman and Turaki Gamji however, urged the people of Lafia to embrace peace, stating that progress can only be achieved through unity and harmony.
