It is often said that while some are born great, others achieve greatness through relentless effort and sacrifice. Dr. Aliyu Bello embodies both. For those of us who have known him from the beginning, we can attest: he is a man who does not accept defeat, no matter how overwhelming the odds. He is not swayed by pressure or intimidation.
His political journey is a demonstration of resilience and unwavering determination. Anyone who thinks Dr. Aliyu Bello will simply walk away from a challenge clearly does not know him.
As Nasarawa State gradually approaches the 2027 governorship elections, the political atmosphere is shifting. New alliances are forming, narratives are being shaped, and unsurprisingly, envy is beginning to surface within certain political circles.
At the center of this growing envy is none other than the Chairman of the APC, Dr. Aliyu Bello. A man whose rising political relevance is not driven by personal ambition, but by meaningful impact.
To fight Dr. Aliyu Bello at this crucial time is to fight the very people he represents, especially the vulnerable, the orphans, widows, and individuals with disabilities. His position today is not accidental; it reflects the kind of leadership he offers: one grounded in empathy, compassion, and deep grassroots engagement.
For years, Dr. Aliyu Bello has distinguished himself not only as a politician but as a genuine servant of the people. His initiatives across communities in Nasarawa speak louder than any political sentiments. Whether it’s sponsoring educational programs for orphans, empowering widows through economic initiatives, or advocating for the inclusion of people with disabilities, Dr. Bello has built his political relevance by being truly relevant to the lives of everyday people. His work has become a lifeline for the forgotten and a voice for the unheard.
It is no surprise, then, that his growing popularity unsettles those who view politics not as service but as self-enrichment. These are individuals who beat their chests, believing the 2027 governorship contest will be a walkover for them. They are now redirecting their energy towards discrediting Dr. Aliyu Bello, attempting to portray him as a political threat, attempting to undermine his credibility, and diminish his influence before the elections arrive.
But what they fail to understand is that attacking Dr. Aliyu Bello is not merely an attack on a man, it is an attack on the very people he serves. It is an assault on the mother who restarted her business through his empowerment scheme. It is a betrayal of the child who now has access to education because Dr. Bello provided school supplies and scholarships. It is a blow to the dignity of the physically challenged, who for the first time, felt included and respected in governance.
If this is the direction politics is taking in Lafia, where service is punished and selfish ambition is rewarded, then the 2027 elections risk becoming a referendum on integrity itself.
Notably, Dr. Aliyu Bello has not declared support for any aspirant in the upcoming governorship race. He has consistently maintained that his loyalty lies with whoever Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule chooses. Yet, his name remains on everyone’s lips. That, in itself, speaks volumes.
His recent remarks during a solidarity visit by his personal friends in Lafia, as well as his speech at the APC Gayam Ward rally, shed light on the political challenges Lafia may face if decisive measures are not taken. Of- course, the people of Lafia are not moved by the old but repeated slogans, they are indeed, inspired by tangible results. And in a political landscape filled with noise, Dr. Aliyu Bello’s quiet, consistent service speaks the loudest.
Let it be made clear: those who envy Dr. Aliyu Bello do so not because he threatens their ambitions, but because he reflects their failures. His presence in the political discourse serves as a reminder of what leadership should be: sacrificial, people-centered, and rooted in justice.
As 2027 draws closer, the people of Lafia must ask themselves: will they side with those who build empires for themselves, or with those who build bridges for others?
Because ultimately, fighting Dr. Aliyu Bello is not just a political misstep, it is a moral failure. It is a rejection of the vulnerable and a betrayal of the true essence of leadership.
