In a strategic move aimed at enhancing its communication machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Media Team of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu engaged in one-day workshop designed to equip its members with essential skills for effective media engagement.
The event which was organised by the Department of Mass Communications, Nasarawa state University Keffi in conjunction with the office of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Media to Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, Mr. Sam Israel, took place today at the Mass Communications Auditorium.
The workshop was coming at a time Senator Wadada intensifies consultations and consolidates support for his anticipated gubernatorial bid in Nasarawa State.
The theme of the workshop: “Equipping the Media Team with Required Knowledge for Media Engagements.” is an initiative aims to scale up the effectiveness of the media team in delivering coherent, strategic, and persuasive communication to the people of Nasarawa state.
The workshop featured a robust lineup of paper presentations by seasoned academics and media professionals. Each speaker has been carefully selected to speak on a topic aligned with the broader objective of strengthening the Senator Wadada’s media architecture.
Key Topics delivered at the workshop includes:
Media Relations and Press Management: Building Positive Relationships with Journalists and Influencers Delivered by Assoc. Prof. Anthony Ogande.
Image Branding and Personality Projection: Positioning a Candidate as the Best People’s Candidate delivered by Dr. Suleiman Garba.
Developing a Unified Campaign Message: Crafting Narratives that Resonate with Nasarawa Citizens delivered by Assoc. Santas Tsegyu
Prof. T. M Akase handled: Storytelling for Politics: Humanizing Aspirant’s Vision Through Social Media Content.
Language of Persuasion: And Prof. M.S. Rabiu delivered a topic on Framing Messages in English, Hausa, and Local Dialects
Political Branding: Creating and Sustaining Candidate’s Public Image was delivered by Abdullahi Adamu and Prof. Anthony Igyuve took participants on: Countering Fake News, Propaganda, and Negative Campaigns: Crisis Communication for an Aspirant Media Team.
Each presentation spanned 30 minutes, with soft copies of the papers provided to participants to ensure continued learning and reference.
The themes and content are designed not only to hone media strategy but also to reflect Senator Wadada’s grassroots-driven approach and his broader gubernatorial vision.
Interestingly, the whole workshop was coordinated by Dr. M.S. Yakubu, a close associate of the Senator Wadada who has taken a hands-on approach to ensure the workshop delivers quality by involving members of his department believed to be well-versed in the dynamics of political communication.
Political analysts view this workshop as a proactive step by the Wadada campaign, reflecting a growing recognition of the power of strategic communication in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape. As the Senator Wadada positions himself as a frontrunner in the upcoming governorship race, the importance of a well-trained and coordinated media team cannot be overstated.
