Zimbabwean businessman and investor Wicknell Chivayo has embarked on a high-level investment tour of Nigeria, signaling renewed regional interest in Nigeria’s booming oil, gas, and real estate sectors. Chivayo was accompanied on the visit by Nigerian lawmaker Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, who facilitated meetings with top government officials, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During a visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Chivayo and Sen. Wadada were received by President Tinubu, where discussions centered on strengthening economic partnerships and exploring cross-border investment opportunities. The meeting underscored Nigeria’s push to attract foreign investors to key sectors of the economy.

Also in attendance was Senate President Godswill Akpabio, highlighting the strategic alignment between Nigeria’s executive and legislative branches in promoting sustainable economic growth.

Senator Wadada, a key political figure from Nasarawa State, has been vocal about his commitment to economic diversification and international collaboration. His role in facilitating Chivayo’s visit reflects his broader vision of transforming Nasarawa into a leading investment destination.

Part of that vision includes the development of the Ebenyi A Oil Well located in Obi Local Government Area—a project Wadada believes could place Nasarawa at the center of Nigeria’s future energy strategy.

The visit comes amid growing political popularity about Senator Wadada’s ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections. Analysts say his proactive approach to economic diplomacy and alignment with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s investment agenda may bolster his prospects for higher leadership roles.

As Nigeria continues to court regional investors, Chivayo’s tour may mark the beginning of deeper Zimbabwe-Nigeria business relations, with potential benefits for both nations’ economies.
