The political atmosphere in Nasarawa State was electrified on Saturday 11th October, 2025 in Keffi as Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, again declared “It is my time” 2027.
Adopting the slogan “OMILAKON”—a Yoruba phrase meaning “My Time Has Come.”

The event, which took place at the official unveiling of his Yoruba Initiative Wadada campaign office in Keffi, was nothing short of a political carnival. Supporters, admirers, and political stakeholders from across the length and breadth of Nasarawa State converged to witness what many described as the formal birth of a new political era.

Senator Wadada, a man known for his humility, foresight, and unmatched commitment to good governance, declared with conviction, “My time has come—not by self-proclamation, but by divine timing and the overwhelming call of the people of Nasarawa State.” He explained that his decision to run was informed by the dynamics of the state’s political landscape and his deep desire to align with the progressive vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Drawing inspiration from Tinubu’s transformational ideology, Senator Wadada said his OMILAKON declaration symbolized a movement of inclusivity, unity, and development—one that places people, rather than power, at the center of governance.

Recalling his sterling records as a member of the House of Representatives and now as senator, he enumerated his impactful interventions, including securing federal laudable projects to Nasarawa state that have opened up the socio-economic arteries of the state.

Senator Wadada emphasized that his governorship ambition was not a contest of personalities but a call to service rooted in performance, compassion, and credibility. “I am not declaring because others are not qualified,” he said, “but because my experience, competence, and deep connection with the people have prepared me for this task. I am coming with a heart to serve, not to rule.”

In a moving show of solidarity, the Yoruba community in Nasarawa State, led by their President, Chief C.K. Awolabi, declared total and unflinching support for Senator Wadada. Chief Awolabi, in his address, described the senator as “a pragmatic, people-oriented leader whose political philosophy resonates deeply with the aspirations of the common man.” He expressed gratitude for the appointment of a Yoruba son as Special Adviser to Senator Wadada, describing the gesture as proof of Wadada’s inclusiveness and genuine spirit of brotherhood.

“The Yoruba community has found in Senator Wadada a true friend and a visionary leader,” Chief Awolabi stated. “No other candidate in Nasarawa today matches his political pedigree, his widespread grassroots appeal, and his genuine compassion for all ethnic groups. We stand with him, we march with him, and come 2027, we will celebrate his victory together.”

The endorsement by the Yoruba community is the latest in a growing wave of support cutting across ethnic, religious, and political divides in Nasarawa State. From the northern plains of Akwanga to the southern settlements of Toto, the daily support from Lafia, Awe, Umaisha, Panda voices of endorsement are echoing in unison: “OMILAKON!”—My Time Has Come!

Political observers describe Senator Wadada as a bridge-builder, a pragmatic reformer, and one of the few Nigerian politicians whose integrity and performance record remain untarnished. His approach to governance, they say, is defined by transparency, empathy, and foresight—qualities that have distinguished him as a rare breed in modern politics.

The declaration ceremony, attended by traditional rulers, youth organizations, women groups, and political heavyweights, featured colorful Yoruba cultural displays blended with the Hausa drummers, symbolic unveiling of the OMILAKON billboard, and the commissioning of the campaign secretariat in Keffi. The atmosphere was festive, yet filled with a sense of destiny and determination.

As the curtains draw close, showers of blessings with rainfall brought the occasion to an end.

As Nasarawa State inches closer to 2027, one thing is certain: the OMILAKON movement is fast gathering momentum. And in the words of many who witnessed the historic declaration, “When destiny calls, even mountains bow.” Indeed, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu’s time has come — and Nasarawa’s future may well be on the brink of a golden dawn.
