In a rare show of political magnanimity and inclusive leadership, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu who recently defected To APC from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has donated five Sharon vehicles and a cash sum of ₦2 million each to the SDP executives across the five Local Government Areas of the Nasarawa West Senatorial District.
The beneficiaries include party leaders in Keffi, Karu, Kokona, Nasarawa, and Toto LGAs.
Describing the gesture as a mark of appreciation and respect for the time, energy, and loyalty of his former party members, Senator wadada emphasized that although he has since moved to the APC, his ties with the SDP remain strong and rooted in shared experiences and a common vision for grassroots development.
“Though I am now a member of the APC, I remain deeply appreciative of the relationships, collaboration, and shared experiences built during my time in the SDP,” he stated. “This gesture is my way of recognizing their efforts, dedication, and contributions to our collective political journey.”
He explained that the donations are more than symbolic acts of generosity, they represent an investment in a political culture that values respect, continuity, and service over division.
“For me, this is more than a donation; it is an investment in our shared future. A future where leadership is accessible and the voices of our people continue to guide our progress,” he said.
Senator Wadada whose name continues to carry influence in Nasarawa State politics, stressed that his move aims to foster mutual respect and encourage healthy democratic engagement across party lines.
“Politics, to me, is not about division, it is about service, respect, and continuity,” he noted. “My support to the SDP leadership at the grassroots is to encourage a culture of mutual respect and healthy democratic engagement, where our differences strengthen rather than divide us.”
The donation has sparked commendations from various quarters, with political observers describing it as a refreshing example of statesmanship and bridge-building in a deeply polarized political climate.
The vehicles and cash gifts are expected to aid the mobility and administrative operations of the SDP executives at the local government level, further strengthening grassroots political engagement in the Nasarawa West.
