Market Association Pledges Support for Clean Environment in Lafia

The President of the Marketing Association, Nasarawa State, Alhaji Musa Aliyu (Turaki Gamji) has pledged the full cooperation of traders in maintaining a clean and healthy environment at the Modern Market in Lafia.

Alhaji Musa Aliyu made this commitment during an official visit to the market by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Magret Elayo, and the Director General of Waste Management. The visit was aimed at reinforcing the government’s sanitation drive and encouraging traders to uphold cleanliness in their business environments.

In his remarks, Alh. Musa Aliyu who is also the Sarkin Shanun of Lafian Bare- Bari commended the government’s renewed focus on environmental hygiene, describing it as a vital step toward creating a safer and more business-friendly market space. He assured that the association would continue to sensitize traders on the need to keep their surroundings clean and comply with waste management directives.

“We are fully in support of the government’s efforts to promote a cleaner and more organized market,” he said. “Cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility, and we will continue to work with the Ministry of Environment to ensure that the Modern Market remains a model for others across the state.”

Responding, Hon. Magret Elayo praised the association’s leadership for its cooperation and dedication to maintaining hygiene standards. She urged all traders to emulate the example set by their leaders by keeping their shops and the entire market clean at all times.

“The government is determined to make our markets safer and more conducive for both traders and customers,” Hon. Elayo said. “A clean environment promotes good health and better business.”

The visit reflects the Nasarawa State Government’s ongoing commitment to environmental sanitation and public health, particularly in busy commercial centers such as the Modern Market in Lafia.
