The recent vitriolic press release signed by one Alhaji Labaran Bako Shabu, the Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is nothing short of a desperate attempt by a drowning political party to clutch at straws. In its entirety, the statement drips with bitterness, hypocrisy, and clear frustration over the inevitable collapse of a party that has lost both direction and relevance in Nasarawa State.
To begin with, the attempt to malign the person and political credibility of Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed Hamza exposes the intellectual bankruptcy that has taken over the PDP communication machinery. It is laughable that a man whose only offense is the courage to speak the truth that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule is performing creditably well could suddenly become the object of such venom from a party that once celebrated him as its voice.
Let it be stated unequivocally that Hon. Ibrahim Hamza is not a political prostitute, but a man of conviction who has consistently aligned himself with progressive ideals. His resignation from the PDP was not an act of betrayal but a patriotic decision borne out of disillusionment with a party that thrives on internal deceit, endless factional wars, and leadership incompetence. His departure from the PDP has created a vacuum that no one within that chaotic structure can fill. The PDP’s media tantrum is therefore nothing but a loud cry of regret for losing one of its finest communicators and strategists.
For a party that has not been able to conduct a peaceful congress or maintain unity among its ward executives to accuse anyone of instability is the height of irony. The PDP in Nasarawa State has become a house divided against itself, a shadow of its former self, and a gathering of opportunists fighting over crumbs of influence.
As for the blind denial of Governor Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule’s achievements, it is not only laughable but tragic. Even the blind can feel the infrastructural transformation across Nasarawa State, but the roads, schools, healthcare projects, and industrial investments that have repositioned the state on the path of sustainable growth. The cynicism of the PDP cannot erase the fact that Governor Sule has brought decency, accountability, and innovation into governance. From the ongoing construction of the Nasarawa Technology Village to the industrial revolution in Lafia and the massive infrastructural expansion in Kokona, Toto, Akwanga, and beyond, the evidence of good governance is too glaring to be denied except by those blinded by hate.
The PDP’s tired narrative that only donor agencies are sustaining the state’s health and education sectors is false and mischievous. It is common knowledge that Governor Sule’s administration has attracted these interventions precisely because of its transparency and commitment to service delivery, a qualities alien to the PDP’s years of waste and self-enrichment.
It is equally embarrassing that a supposed state PRO of an opposition party would resort to name-calling instead of engaging in issue-based discourse. Referring to a respected figure as a “nomadic politician” or “drowning man” only reflects the moral decay and intellectual poverty of the PDP’s communication team. When a party must insult to stay relevant, it has already lost the argument.
In contrast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Governor Sule continues to focus on governance, not gossip. The people of Nasarawa State are wiser now; they can see who is working and who is only shouting. The PDP may continue to issue press statements of bitterness, but no amount of propaganda can rewrite the reality of progress under the current administration.
In conclusion, the PDP should stop using Hon. Ibrahim Hamza’s name to mask its internal rot. Instead of throwing stones from a collapsing glass house, it should look inward, reexamine its leadership failure, and accept that the people of Nasarawa have moved on from the politics of deceit to the politics of development.
Hon. Ibrahim Hamza’s truth may hurt, but it remains the truth. And no amount of smear campaign can silence a voice of reason in the face of glaring evidence.
