Police Debunk Claims of Pupil Abduction at St. Peter’s Academy

The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media and in some news outlets alleging that two pupils of St. Peter’s Academy, Rukubi, in Doma Local Government Area, were abducted by kidnappers.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the Command described the claim as false and urged the public to disregard it.

According to the statement, the rumour emerged on Friday morning, 21 November 2025, around 10:00 a.m., suggesting that two pupils were kidnapped while taking part in sports activities on the school field. The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately deployed a joint team of police operatives and military personnel to the area to verify the report.

However, the team found no evidence of an abduction. Instead, investigations revealed that the pupils had panicked after seeing hunters carrying Dane guns nearby and fled in fear, mistakenly believing they were kidnappers. Security personnel combed the area and confirmed that the environment was safe.

The proprietor of the school also confirmed to the police that the alarm raised was a false one.

The Police Command said surveillance in the area has been intensified to prevent any security breach. It further advised journalists and media organisations to verify information before publication to avoid causing unnecessary panic among the public.
