Dr. Jatau gave the assurance on Thursday in Lafia while receiving Governor Abdullahi Sule’s N517.5 billion budget proposal tagged “Budget of Strategic Consolidation.” He emphasized that the 7th Assembly under his leadership would maintain effective collaboration with the executive to guarantee seamless implementation of government programmes.
The Speaker praised the governor for what he described as consistent commitment to development, noting that the legislature was prepared to provide the necessary legislative backing for policies and initiatives that would benefit the people.
“I want to reassure you that the 7th Assembly under my leadership will continue to uphold the highest standards of legislative excellence,” Jatau stated. “We shall provide the necessary legislative support to ensure government policies and programmes are implemented smoothly, effectively and without hindrance, so that our people can continue to enjoy tangible democratic dividends.”
He further pledged that the House would accord the 2026 budget the “diligent and timely attention it deserves,” stressing that lawmakers remained focused on their constitutional responsibilities.
Dr. Jatau also issued a call to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure full compliance with all budgetary guidelines as deliberations and implementation commence, describing such compliance as “non-negotiable.”
Beyond the legislative duties, the Speaker urged residents of the state to continue to uphold peace, unity and mutual respect irrespective of political, ethnic or religious differences. He encouraged citizens to support the administration of Governor Sule as all stakeholders work collectively to build the Nasarawa State of their aspirations.
