The Plateau State Civil Service Commission has paid a one-day working visit to the Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission to understudy its operations and explore strategies for improving service delivery in Plateau State.
The delegation, led by Chairman Professor Paul Samoni Wal, was received in the boardroom of the Nasarawa Commission by its members and management staff. Discussions during the visit focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing best practices in civil service administration.
The visit follows similar engagements by other states, including Bauchi, which have sought to learn from Nasarawa’s notable achievements—particularly its digitization of civil service processes. Nasarawa was recently ranked the first state civil service commission to fully deploy Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in its operations at the National Council of Civil Service Commissions held in Katsina last year. This recognition has continued to draw interest from commissions across the country.
Speaking during the meeting, Professor Wal commended the Nasarawa Commission for what he described as its “effective and efficient policy formulations,” noting that these reforms have positioned the state as a model in civil service professionalism and modernization. He explained that Plateau, Benue, and Abia states were selected for a study tour aimed at helping Plateau adopt improved administrative practices.
The Plateau Commission’s Chief Scribe added that the visit was also intended to understand the legal framework establishing the Nasarawa Commission, its relationship with the Office of the Head of Service, and its approaches to recruitment, promotions, conversions, and other statutory functions.
In his response, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission, Musa Dangana Giza, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as an opportunity for cross-learning. He highlighted the successes recorded under his leadership, attributing them to the strong support of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule and a robust working relationship with the Office of the Head of Service.
Dangana reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to continuous improvement and pledged to share insights that could assist Plateau State in enhancing its own civil service operations.
