Hon. Ibrahim Hamza has commended Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for presenting what he described as a well-articulated and people-centered 2026 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly.

Governor Sule, last Monday in Lafia, laid before the Assembly a N517,539,050,910.77 budget estimate for the 2026 fiscal year, christened “Budget of Strategic Consolidation.” The proposal aims to consolidate ongoing infrastructure projects, enhance economic competitiveness, expand job creation, and improve basic healthcare and education across the state.

The Governor explained that the budget comprises N212.79 billion as recurrent expenditure, representing 41.12%, and N304.75 billion as capital expenditure, representing 58.88%. He said the capital-heavy allocation reaffirms his administration’s commitment to delivering long-term development benefits.

Breakdown of the sectoral allocations includes:

Economic Sector: N221.84 billion

Social Sector: N170.92 billion

Administrative Sector: N108.70 billion

Law and Justice Sector: N16.09 billion

Key sub-sectors such as infrastructure (N157.80bn), education (N92.91bn), health (N37.19bn), agriculture & water resources (N31.85bn), and security & governance (N142.96bn) also received significant attention.

Commenting on the proposal, Hon. Ibrahim Hamza praised Governor Sule for presenting a budget that clearly prioritizes development and the welfare of citizens. He said the structured allocation, if passed and implemented faithfully, “will positively transform the lives of the people of Nasarawa State.”

Hamza added that the Governor’s focus on infrastructure expansion, job creation, improved social services, and institutional strengthening reflects a deep understanding of the state’s developmental needs.

During the budget presentation, Governor Sule also highlighted the establishment of new strategic agencies—including the Nasarawa State Fire & Rescue Service Agency, NASET Fund, Institute of Leather & Science Technology, and the Nasarawa State Multi-Door Court House—to drive modernization and enhance public service delivery.

Hon. Hamza further called on citizens to support the government’s development agenda, expressing optimism that the 2026 Appropriation Bill, once passed, would bring significant positive impact to communities across Nasarawa State.
