Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has officially welcomed Architect Godwin Ashikeni, a retired Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and former stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The reception took place at the Government House, where Governor Sule described Ashikeni’s defection as a significant and encouraging boost to the ruling party. He praised Ashikeni for his decades of public service, professional expertise, and dedication to the state’s development, noting that his wealth of experience would strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure and enhance its capacity to deliver effective governance.
Ashikeni was presented to the Governor shortly after the decamping ceremony by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe. They were joined by the State APC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello; State Secretary, Hon. Yairus Dagusa; and Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, Hon. Jonathan Okuba Addra. Ashikeni attended the meeting alongside his wife, Mrs. Glorie Ashikeni, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, who expressed gratitude for the warm reception.
Governor Sule commended the APC leadership for fostering unity and inclusivity within the party, adding that the influx of respected technocrats and political figures reflects the administration’s commitment to building a broad and development-driven political movement in Nasarawa State.
In his remarks, Architect Ashikeni said he was motivated to join the APC by Governor Sule’s integrity, purposeful leadership, and developmental achievements, which he described as exemplary.
The gathering at the Government House was marked by warmth and mutual respect, symbolizing the APC’s open-door policy as the party continues to expand its membership and consolidate its position across the state.
