Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, has restated his commitment to supporting major infrastructural developments along the Abuja–Karu corridor, describing the area as critical to the socio-economic growth of Nasarawa State.

He made the pledge on today Friday, in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, where he joined Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for the groundbreaking ceremony of the twin flyover bridges—one of the most anticipated projects in the state’s rapidly expanding urban belt.

The event drew residents, community leaders, and government officials who hailed the project as a long-awaited intervention to the persistent traffic gridlock that has slowed movement and business activities along the ever-busy Karu–Abuja route.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Wadada praised Governor Sule’s “giant stride in developing the state’s infrastructure,” noting that the groundbreaking signaled a new chapter in easing congestion and improving the quality of life for thousands of daily commuters. He stressed that the Abuja–Karu corridor remains central to the state’s economic heartbeat, and as such, he would continue to partner with the state government to ensure its sustainable development.

“The needs of the people along this corridor are enormous and urgent,” Wadada said, adding that the flyover project clearly demonstrates the administration’s commitment to purposeful governance. He emphasized that the project, once completed, would not only reduce travel time but also expand economic opportunities for residents and traders who depend on seamless transportation to and from the Federal Capital Territory.

Wadada further assured that as a federal legislator, he would intensify efforts to attract complementary federal projects that support the governor’s infrastructural masterplan for Karu and the adjoining communities. He described the Mararaba flyovers as a bold and strategic investment aimed at positioning Nasarawa State as a modern, efficient extension of the FCT’s metropolitan space.

Earlier, Governor Sule reiterated his administration’s determination to deliver the project to international standards and within schedule, noting that the flyovers form part of a broader strategy to upgrade Karu into a well-planned urban corridor capable of absorbing its fast-growing population.

The ceremony ended with palpable optimism, as residents applauded the collaborative spirit between Senator Wadada and Governor Sule—an alliance many believe is paving the way for enduring progress in Nasarawa State.
